“When we first decided to get an educational robot, we were unsure what to expect, but now we are thrilled we decided to get QT. We are able to help our son all year round. Our son has acquired new knowledge and has developed new skills. It was QT who showed him how to wave hi, which we could not get him to do before then”, Say Jay and Catherine, parents of a 6-year old boy with autism.
Robot supporting parents at home to teach new skills to children with autism
I own my own business, and I can always figure things out and find the answers when I had to. Then My wife and I had a baby boy. We started to notice that something was different as he got older. So at two and a half years old, we brought him in to find out why he was non-verbal. They told us he was Autistic.
We knew nothing about Autism, and it was the first time we even knew there was such a thing.
We felt helpless and desperate and needed to educate ourselves on everything about Autism.
Now, what do we do? To start, we contacted all the local agencies that could offer help in the Autism field. We ended up with many different professionals to help us, but there was no consistent progress with Jay.
Around the same time, we started to investigate the internet. We started downloading Autism learning apps on his tablet at home. We started with pre-school apps and continued from there. He really enjoyed playing the apps and would play them repeatedly until he figured them out. The apps help a lot to teach him certain things, but they are limited in the things he needs to learn, not specific to one topic or based on a graduated level system, and they are random in nature.
We also got him another tablet with the Prologo2Go program, which allows him to communicate. Prologo2Go has been a big help for communicating and continues to be so. He can ask for something and reply to certain things. Eventually, he will be able to make sentences and hold a conversation.
We were still in a dilemma because we needed to teach him what he needed to know for day-to-day life and bring him up to his age and grade level.
One option was to pay for private therapy, but it is extremely expensive, costing us 60-80 K each year. Also we were not sure what therapies would work for Jay. When you get the private therapies, someone else is at charge and it was not easy for us to understand what is going on in the sessions and we didn’t know what progress we were supposed to expect.
We needed to find something we could afford, teach and advance him, and control what was going on. We also wanted to know how he was advancing and what needed to be worked on. We needed something we could do ourselves without making appointments, leaving home or creating a financial burden.
We noticed QTrobot on the internet, and after thoroughly investigating, we decided to purchase it about a year ago.
At home education using a social robot for children with autism
When we first started using QTrobot, we were surprised to find how easy it was to use. You have a teacher tablet, a learner’s tablet and QTrobot. The two tablets are very user-friendly . If you can use a smart phone, you can use QT.
QT has a very non-threatening and extremely pleasant face. It shows simple facial expressions, has a nice voice and takes his time speaking on purpose, to allow autistic children to comprehend what it is saying. His arms move in many directions to give direction or to express approval. We took a couple of days to experiment with QT and then start doing the learning sessions (games) with our son and continue to do so to this day.
At the beginning, we would only do about 5-minute sessions every night.
Then as he became more familiar with QTrobot, the sessions became longer and longer. Now, we use the robot at least 5 nights a week, and the sessions are now 15 to 25 minutes. It’s been about a year, and his interest in using QTrobot has only grown with time.

When we first started with QTrobot, our son was excited to use it because, at the start, it was like getting a new toy, and he was curious to see what it was about. When he started with QTrobot, he did not know what he was supposed to do.
At the beginning, we would only do about 5-minute sessions every night. For the first 4 or 5 weeks, he would get frustrated near the end of a 5-minute session. Even though he would get frustrated, he was always looking forward to using QTrobot in the next evening. Then as he became more familiar with QTrobot and as time went on, his frustration slowly disappeared, and the sessions became longer and longer. Now, we use QTrobot at least 5 nights a week, and the sessions are now 15 to 25 minutes. It’s been about a year, and his interest in using QTrobot has only grown with time.
There have been some things that we have tried to show him without QT but getting him to understand what we were trying to teach was difficult. We would have QT teach him the same things, and he would catch on and be able to learn what we couldn’t teach.
When we first decided to get an educational robot, we were unsure what to expect, but now we are thrilled we decided to get QTrobot. We are able to help our son all year round. Our son has acquired new knowledge as well as developing new skills. It was QTrobot who showed him how to wave hi, which we could not get him to do before then.
We feel very fortunate and grateful to have an educational robot in our home. QTrobot can do many things to educate our son that we weren’t able to achieve. Without QTrobot, we really wouldn’t have much help from anywhere else during the pandemic, and we would be without any answers to help our son.
Teaching greeting to children with autism using an educational robot
I believe that QTrobot is the answer for parents, and you won’t need to spend 60 to 80 thousand a year. QTrobot is consistent and always has the exact same mannerism. It is non-threatening and is at your disposal 24/7. You are in full control of the times you choose to use it and for how long. QTrobot has an endless array of learning programs that are professionally designed and calculated to gradually teach your child at their skill level while constantly advancing them. QT also is designed specifically for Autistic children.
QTrobot draws the child to it and keeps them interested. As time goes on, your child becomes more interested in QTrobot, has longer sessions, and takes less time to learn the games. The owners of LuxAI and their staff are wonderful. They have a wealth of educated, knowledgeable people who dedicate themselves to creating educational robots for Autistic children. QTrobot is simple a miracle for Autistic children and their parents.
