Abstract:
Music Therapy (MT) serves as a non-medical approach to bolster or preserve cognitive functions, leveraging music’s capacity to engage various brain functions simultaneously. In this study, we introduce an innovative strategy that marries Music Therapy with cognitive training activities facilitated by a humanoid robot (QT robot from LUXAI). This combined method aims to slow down cognitive deterioration in people with mild cognitive impairments and to alleviate the burden on therapy and care staff by making MT accessible to a broader audience. The initiative features four music-centered cognitive games designed to stimulate diverse cognitive abilities, offering a comprehensive multi-domain treatment. These games are tailored to the participant’s preferences, abilities, and progression. We share findings from two preliminary studies on our robot-assisted MT approach, highlighting crucial elements for enhancing the effectiveness and practicality of this method.
